Art, culture and social affairs: my commitment to society
For me, art and culture are essential areas of intellectual and political discourse – they are the lifeblood of society. For this reason and out of my personal passion, I support cultural and social projects that are particularly close to my heart.
I am committed to these projects
The Insel Hombroich in Neuss, for example, is an extraordinary art project in which the visitor can enter into a dialogue with art and nature in various fields such as architecture, music, poetry and visual arts. Here I am the chairman of the board of the support association.
The German Friends of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, of which I am Chairman of the board, supports not only the work of the opera La Fenice, but also the cultural relations between Germany and Italy and especially with the city of Venice. Furthermore, I am Co-Chairman of the Fondazione Internazionale Richard Wagner di Venezia, which sponsors the Wagner Museum in Venice.
I am also a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Friends of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf/Duisburg.
As Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Protestant Hospital Bethesda in Mönchengladbach, I am involved in the social sector.
